Film and television star Rohit Roy is honest to the point of being blunt when he claims that he has not delivered a single hit in his decade long career in Bollywood.

But what puzzles the actor is that he continues to get work despite not being able to give hits.

“I have stopped analysing my career and have left it to God. I have not delivered a single hit in the past ten years but I am still busy,” said the actor, who started his acting journey with 1995 TV serial Swabhimaan.

Rohit’s recent releases include Karan Razdan’s Mittal v/s Mittal and Jagmohan Mundhra’s Apartment co-starring Tanushree Dutta and Neetu Chandra.

“I am more inclined towards topically relevant films like Mittal v/s Mittal, which highlights the issue of marital rape. Also the fact that I had national award winning actress Rituparna Sengupta opposite me was an added challenge,” said Rohit.

He is not only busy acting but also directing and producing films through his own production house, as well as anchoring various television shows.

Rohit, who is all set to host Imagine TV’s new reality show Desi Girl, claims to be the next best anchor in India after megastar Amitabh Bachchan.

“I am the best anchor in India, I’m creative and very comfortable in my job. But that list does not include Amitabh Bachchan, because he is God, no one is better than him,” he said.

The actor is still known for his portrayal of Rishabh Malhotra in the hit serial Swabhimaan. Rohit admits that he copied Bachchan through and through in the serial as he had no idea about acting back then. “I have copied him in Swabhimaan completely, as I had no understanding of the medium back then. Swabhimaan is my Sholay,” said Rohit.

Although telvision has given him considerable amount of fame, Rohit is staying away from the women-centric daily soaps and serials these days as he does not like the concepts.

“I don’t understand the kind of shows being shown on TV these days, I dont subscribe to them. In 10 years I have done only four daily soaps – they were male-dominated and had concepts which I was convinced of,” he said.

The actor might be juggling various jobs, but Rohit is most comfortable wearing the director’s hat.

“I am far easier a director than an actor, direction comes to me more naturally,” said Rohit, who has one of the ten films in Dus Kahaniyan and is coming up with ten films from his own production house which are to be showed on TV.

“These films are the biggest things I have taken up lately. The films range from supernatural to psychological thrillers. I have directed two of them while the other films have been helmed by directors like Sarthak Dasgupta, Rajiv Irani and Sudipto Chattopadhay,” said Rohit.

The actor has also recently starred in his first Bengali film Pa Ma Ga Re Sa, in which he played the role of a rockstar. The film failed to impress viewers but the actor has been flooded with more roles.

“The film didn’t do well because I think the audience did not like me, they thought I was a Punjabi. Maybe that is because I am a migrant Bengali living away from the state for so long,” said Rohit.
