IT’S tough to believe that the hunk of television Rohit Roy who is forever surrounded by glam dolls was a shy bookworm during his college days. Rohit, who studied at St. Xaviers, Ahmedabad, said he was too shy to talk to girls. “I was never too confident and would shy away from girls. I’d always look for an excuse to avoid them. My first serious relationship was in college and that was the only one before I moved to Mumbai and met my wife. In college, I always had my head buried in my physics books. I had plans of pursuing an MBA but life took a different turn as opportunities opened up.

And I became an actor. ” Talking about his friends, he said, “I made some real good friends in school and college. That’s the age when you’re footloose and carefree.

Your friendships have no strings attached and that’s why they last. The friends I made back then will always treat me the same no matter what.

My star status is not going to affect the bond we share with each other.” When asked about how college life is different from the real life, he said, “Well, it’s easier to trust people when you are young. Also, you seem to forget about the bygones and care little about the future, you live in the moment and enjoy every minute of it.

Though I was a serious kid who hardly ever bunked classes, I really enjoyed my college days. I spent most of my time with friends studying or sitting at the kitli (tea shop), relaxing. Mumbai changed me completely. For one, I became more confident. I still tend to trust people the same way. Sometimes I get hurt but every once in a while I get a chance to get closer to a good person. I guess that’s life.”
