SVF is currently shooting a string of original shows for its OTT platform, Hoichoi, which is in its Beta phase right now. ‘Bouma Detective’, one of the shows under production, is a 10-episode detective thriller series. The highlight of this show is Superstar Ronojoy, played by Rohit Roy, and a Bengali housewife leading a dual life, Rohini, played by Aparajita Auddy. Rohit will be seen playing a pivotal role in a web series for the first time, that too in Bengali.
Rohit is a popular Bollywood actor, who has acted in various popular Hindi serials too. He has even donned the hat of a director for one of the stories in a critically acclaimed anthology Indian film. The plot of Bouma Detective is about Rohini, played by every Bengali’s favourite ‘Bouma’Aparajita. Her husband, Ronojoy, is a superstar. While shooting, one of Ronojoy’s co-actors, Abheri, played by Riyanka Dasgupta, dies on set. Circumstantial evidence makes Ronojoy the prime suspect, which his wife refuses to believe. Another actress, Pamela, played by SatarupaPyne, gets involved in this debacle. Thereafter, Rohini decides to take matters into her own hands. In order to save her husband and find the real murderer, she begins to lead a dual life – that of a responsible housewife and a detective. Rohit said, “I am excited to be a part of the next big thing in Bengali entertainment. ‘Bouma Detective’ will be the first-ever web series for me, and the fact that it is in Bengali, makes it even more special. Hoichoihoyejak!” Director Srijit Roy mentioned, “Rohit has done some remarkable work in Bollywood. He fits the role perfectly. Aparajita and he make a wonderful on-screen couple. We are ecstatic to have Rohit on board.” Hoichoi is SVF’s Over-The-Top (OTT) offering.
