Tota Roy Choudhury is keeping busy these days. While he has a hand full of projects now, the actor is on board for yet another Bengali film, a dark love story titled ‘Atoshkaanch’. This film also marks the directorial debut of Journalist-turned-communication expert Arindam Basu. What’s more interesting is Arindam has managed bring in a big name from Bollywood for his first feature film and its popular actor Rohit Roy. Bangladeshi actress Orin plays the female lead here. Mallika Banerjee and Debaprasad Haldar also will be seen in pivotal roles.
It’s a story of a successful crime thriller writer Pratapaditya Singha (Rohit Roy) and his wife Resham (Orin) who travel to the hills as the author plans to use the vacation to finish the climax of his new book. There is a cold wall of indifference between the couple which they also hope to heal in the mountains. But as fate has it Resham meets Rahil (Tota) in the hills. Rahil owns a small pub where he is also a part-time singer. Resham and Rahil gets involved in a relationship and it spirals out of control. The lives of trio now take unexpected twists hurtling towards a dark end. Will Pratapaditya be able to redeem himself of his sins, Resham find solace and Rahil get a new meaning of life? That’s what ‘Atoshkaanch is all about.

“Atoshkaanch means a magnifying glass. The story magnifies what lies beneath the apparent placidity that surrounds the lives of these three people. This is movie about the story behind the stories of thethreecharacters,” said director Arindam Basu.
Produced by Trina Films, shooting for this film starts mid-December in the North Bengal.
