Chocolate-faced, smart and talented Rohit Roy, stole hearts with his portrayal as Rishabh Malhotra, an ‘angry young man’ in the popular TV serial ‘Swabhimaan’ (1995) and as a hot-tempered young politician in another TV serial ‘Sarrkar’. He started his career as an assistant to ad director Kunal Kapoor. ‘Swabhimaan’ ran for three years and he did two films in this period – ‘Jazbaat (1994) and ‘Lalchi'(1996) which didn’t get a proper release. Later he did Sanjay Gupta’s ‘Plan’ (2004), ‘LoC Kargil (2003), ‘Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena’ (2005), ‘Kuchh Meetha Ho Jaye’ (2005) etc, but these films also failed to register an impact. On the Big Screen, Rohit couldn’t receive the popularity he had achieved as a TV actor. He has also presented shows for Zee TV, STAR One and Sahara One. Rohit is married to model cum assistant director Manasi Joshi and they have a daughter Kiara. He now prepares to act in another soap, Ravi Chopra’s ‘Viraasat’ and his forthcoming films include ‘Shoot Out at Lokhandwala’ and ‘Delhi Heights’.
